Fresh Air Experience Walk/Run for Women

Nearly 400 women ran or walked to benefit women in need Sunday.

The Fresh Air Experience Walk/Run for Women raised at least $9,000 for the New Opportunities for Women Canada Society a Kelowna Charity that helps women struggling with abuse, addictions, mental illness and homelessness.

"It's an all women's event for women in need," said race director Calli Lange. "We had 320 runners last year and 388 this year. It's obviously not a problem to get women out to these events."

Participants walked or ran five or ten kilometers.

For many years, Fresh Air Experience has supported the work we do at NOW Canada and 2009 is going to be no different. They will be holding their annual Walk/Run for Women on Sunday June 14th, with all proceeds from the event being generously donated again to NOW Canada.

This is the only all-women’s running event in the Okanagan, consisting of a 5 km walk/run on a flat surface and a 10km run, which includes rolling hills for the fitter ladies in our community!  This is a great event, with women recognizing the needs of other women in the community and putting on their runners to raise funds to support them. 

 It doesn’t matter what your level of fitness it ~ everyone is welcome however, if you would like to get a little fitter to take part, Fresh Air Experience will be offering running clinics to improve your fitness level and help you complete the course in the best shape possible!
