ONGOING ASSISTANCE

FOLLOW CARE PROGRAM

This client initiated program is offered on an ongoing but declining basis to graduates of the Essentials Program and/or the Residential Safe Home Program to help them become fully independent.

Support includes (but is not limited to):

  •   One-on-one support for emotional needs

  •   Ongoing drug screening for accountability

  •   Ongoing access to trauma therapy, equine therapy, yoga therapy and Peer Mentor Programs

  •   Assistance in finding accommodation

  •   Support in meetings with Ministry of Children and Family Development, court and probation

HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAM

The Healthy Living Program provides financial assistance to low-income participants who have the least access to resources and opportunities and who can barely cover the cost of living.

These participants have already proven a willingness to make positive lifestyle changes. The program helps them out of financial struggles by assisting them in acquiring basic needs which many people take for granted, but if not available could compromise safety, security and recovery.

Carefully monitored and appropriate financial assistance ensures women and their children have the opportunity to cope when unexpected expenses occur.

All NOW Canada participants can apply for healthy living assistance if they are in financial crisis.  Applications to the program are evaluated on an individual basis and a repayment plan may be required.

PEER MENTOR PROGRAM

This support group for Essentials graduates is the newest program in NOW’s continuum of care.  Graduates meet with the Client Support Workers as a group each month to check in, support each other, celebrate achievements and discuss their next steps forward.

Every second month, peer mentors and graduates meet with Essentials participants to offer encouragement and advice in remaining committed to their recovery.  This adds another level of support that the participant can access.

Since 1998, NOW Canada has provided safe, front-line support for women and youth facing addiction, abuse, sexual exploitation, and mental health challenges.

Our unique continuum of care—from emergency shelter to independent living—offers housing, programs, and services that empower participants to rebuild their lives with dignity.

At NOW Canada, hope isn’t just a dream—it’s a reality.
