Since 1998, NOW Canada Society has provided critical housing and comprehensive support services to vulnerable individuals, offering a full continuum of care that includes emergency shelter, safe housing linked to a recovery program, affordable housing, and homes and programming for mothers and children fleeing domestic violence. Our trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and recovery-focused approach provides long-term, sustainable solutions to those we serve.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for driving NOW Canada’s strategic vision, ensuring operational and financial sustainability, and fostering partnerships that advance our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy: Provide overall strategic direction and leadership aligned with the mission, vision, and values of NOW Canada.
  • Program Oversight: Evaluate, strengthen, and expand programs to better support recovery focused programs, harm reduction, and housing stability.
  • Financial Management: Manage funding streams, and secure grants and donations from government bodies, private donors, and community partners.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the public face of NOW Canada Society, cultivating relationships with stakeholders, funders, and government agencies.
  • Human Resources: Lead and support a dedicated team, fostering an inclusive, positive, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Board Relations: Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to implement policies and execute strategic goals. Attend monthly Board meetings to report progress on key deliverables and initiatives. 
  • Client Support: Provide direct assistance to clients as needed, reinforcing our hands-on approach to care.

 

 

Who You Are

  • An experienced leader in the non-profit or social services sector, ideally with a background in housing, recovery, harm reduction, or trauma-informed care.
  • A strategic thinker with demonstrated success in organizational development, fundraising, financial management, and stakeholder relations.
  • A compassionate and committed advocate for vulnerable populations, with strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • A relationship-builder who values collaboration, community, and equity.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree in social work, public administration, non-profit leadership, or a combination of experience and education in related fields is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role, ideally within a non-profit or community-based organization.
  • Proven achievements in program development, fundraising, grant writing, financial oversight, and team leadership.
  • Additional relevant certifications, training, or professional accomplishments are welcomed and encouraged.

Salary range to start: 95,000 to 115,000 as well as benefit package and matching RRSPs.
